COVID-19 entry restrictions

The EU Council Recommendation on the temporary restriction on non-essential travel into the EU (Council Recommendation 2020/912) permits travel by persons in need of international protection or protection for other humanitarian reasons. Irrespective of this, the Ordinance on Coronavirus Entry Regulations (CoronaEinreiseV) must also be observed.

As of 27 February 2022, Ukraine is no longer classified as a high-risk area. According to the Coronavirus Entry Regulations, there is only a general obligation to test prior to entry. Quarantine and registration requirements no longer apply.

In the case of war refugees and displaced persons, the Federal Police will take a pragmatic approach. Voluntary tests are offered at the border upon entry. Medical professionals are consulted if a person is exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
